Understanding the brief
A circuit of choice,
a sprint to discover.
Building on the success of Nike Shoe Finder, we set out to reimagine the discovery experience for Nike’s Training Club and Running Club within the Nike app. Our goal was to make it easier for users to find workouts, connect with elite coaches and athletes, take on challenges, and earn rewards — all through a seamless, motivating journey that encouraged long-term engagement.

The Challenge

The Research
Muscle memory: Ever wonder how fitness platforms
play matchmaker with content that inspires?
In reviewing key players like Apple Fitness, Alo Moves, and Peloton, one thing was clear: their workout discovery experience outpaced Nike’s. Each platform offered a seamless, intuitive search flow that made finding the right content feel effortless — even enjoyable. Our challenge was to close that gap and reimagine discovery in a way that felt uniquely Nike.

The Insight
Building a filter-first fitness discovery experience.
While competitors offered strong filtering capabilities, none had transformed the process into a reward-driven, quiz-style experience. This presented a clear opportunity for Nike to stand out — aligning perfectly with the brand’s motivational ecosystem. We proposed a dynamic questionnaire that not only personalised content discovery, but also acted as a gateway across Nike Running Club and Training Club, intelligently directing users based on their fitness goals and preferences.
User Journey
Workshops with Nike app team.
To align on user needs and experience goals, I led a series of collaborative workshops with the Nike app team. These sessions brought together product, UX, and content stakeholders to unpack key insights, prioritise runner and training personas, and map potential user journeys. The workshops created space for rapid idea generation and alignment, ensuring the final solution would not only serve diverse fitness goals but also integrate seamlessly within the Nike app ecosystem (NRC/ NTC).
Creative
Creative direction.
From a creative direction standpoint, I leveraged Nike’s extensive library of lifestyle imagery to bring energy, authenticity, and aspiration into the experience. The goal was to balance functional UX with bold, motivational visuals that reflected the diversity of Nike’s community. Carefully selected photography was used to inject personality into each screen — showcasing real athletes in real moments, while reinforcing the sense of movement, progress, and belonging at every step of the journey. I also defined how imagery should adapt across breakpoints and states, ensuring consistency and impact whether viewed on mobile, tablet, or desktop — without compromising performance or accessibility.
The Result
Intuitive Quiz Interface Design.
The tiled design allows the Nike Activity Finder to be an easy quick fire quiz to complete just before wanting to workout. The photographic visuals add to the definition of each title thus reflecting positive moods towards different workouts, giving the user a positive outlook on fitness.
